In November, I had the privilege of attending the Georgia Transit Association Annual Conference. While there, I was able to listen to a presentation from Scott Bogran with the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA), Jordan Hall of Statewide Independent Living Council of Georgia and Lisa Harkin of Walon Options Resources for independent living.
These organizations provide resources for people with all types of disabilities. Collectively, they demonstrate the ability to identify societal barriers to independent living and allow the collaboration for solutions. What I took away as a key was that we must constantly remember to hold space for those who have needs beyond our own.
Hearing dialog about the importance of something like tactile strips was enlightening. Why? Because when done properly, we can see how much value is added to ensure the independence is maintained.
What are some amazing insights you have seen from conferences and tradeshows this year?
