This is a powerful question, Andy. Allyship, when done with intention and consistency can usually truly transform a workplace culture and even shift norms. A few meaningful examples of allyship which can make a difference are providing sponsorship over just a mentorship. An example of this would be a leader or manager not just proving mentorship for an employee from an underrepresented group but actively advocating for them in promotional discussions, assigning them to potentially high visibility projects, and ensuring they are in meetings where they contribute, and decisions are made. The impact of this kind of sponsorship can improve career development for our marginalized employees, especially women and people of color. Another opportunity is to interrupt bias in real time. This is not any easy task, and many times can cause conflict with others, but you need to do it, it is the right thing to do. An example would be during meetings; Allies should speak up when we notice someone is being interrupted or their ideas are being overlooked or dismissed. By simply pointing out that their contribution was a great point, or can we go back to this and discuss further, impacts the team and contributes to creating a culture where others will then feel respected and included and will be more open to sharing ideas and thoughts in the future. This is never easy, it takes work, but the result is worth it. I have worked in previous potions where I or my ideas were dismissed, but my male counterparts were flawed but praised. To flip this, I took this as a moment for learning. How not to treat others and never be dismissive of others, especially in group meetings. You never know where the next great idea will come from, we must always be inclusive. Great question!

Subject: Meaningful allyship examples in the parking and mobility industry (A discussion thread)
How can we, as professionals in parking and mobility, actively practice allyship to make a positive impact in our industry and the people we serve? What are some examples of allyship you've seen that made a meaningful difference at work or in the overall industry?
